Question by DimitriUK · Jul 18, 2015 at 03:29 PM · c#terrainworldthird-partyhuge

Open World Solution

I have come to the point where I need to build a huge Open World.

I wanted to know what the best method was to begin doing that.

Firstly, I created 3 terrains that were 2000 x 2000 and placed them next to eachother, however if I was to raise the height a bit on one, you could see under from the other terrain. I could easily paint height for the other side, but then that's a lot of effort to do all along the 2000 length.

What should I do? Should I use a third-party program? I need to build a snow environment, desert environment, etc.

Nice, I have purchased it and it seems to be working rather well. Thanks.

Did you try searching before asking? Before Auntie Google readily gave me lots of answers to your question:

Yes, of course I searched first. I have already been on them links, apart from the Stich Scape asset.

I came to here seeking a professional to give me a straight up answer for the best solution for 'Open World' playability. With lots of links around and different solutions, I decided to go to the right place 'Unity Answers' and ask. So there is no need to try and humiliate me.

I'm not humiliating you. I'm drawing your attention to the fact that, as stated in the FAQ, questioners should provide evidence of what effort and research they've already put into solving the problem, and questions that can be trivially answered using a search will likely be rejected. If you'd already found those links, you should have stated and said why they hadn't solved your issue.

If you wanted an opinion of what's the "best" solution, that's a subjective opinion and also not suitable for discussion here.

I'm glad you've found that the Stitchscape asset meets your needs. Hopefully questioners in the future will find this post when searching.

Another reason as to why I posted this question. I want newcomers to see this and straight away know, 'Stichscape' is the answer.

It makes you think, why did I post this? I didn't find a Unity answer as simple as "Purchase Stitchscape".

Now for people that want a straight forward answer, they can now refer to this thread by finding it easily via Unity Answer's search bar or search engines.

And I'll give you a +1 for that :)
