Question by xanawa · Jul 28, 2015 at 12:36 PM · guibox

gui box visibility

Hi,

I have a unity application (android) were I have an empty gameobject in the scene. on touch of this empty game object I am creating a GUI.box holding displaying some text. Now after the user touches the screen again i want to remove this guibox. Therefore on 1st touch it displays this guibox and on the 2nd touch it hides it or destroys it. By the way the guibox is created dynamically in the code not from the scene.

Is it possible?

instead of using GUI why dont you use the new UI interface. Much easier. here are some tutorials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsZM3q74Q2k and https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/user-interface-ui

Just use a boolean and switch it's state when the user touches the screen. If the boolean is set to true, draw the box. Done :)

What do you mean by state so far I have a bool showbox, on touch if it is false it becomes true and vice versa... then I call the medthod CreateBox and create the Gui.Box

void CreateBox(bool showBox) { if(showBox) { GUI.Box(new Rect(50, 50, Screen.width-100, Screen.height-100), "Hi World"); } else { //Destroy me } Blockquote

}
