Problems importing animated characters from blender

Hi,

I'm working on a small skateboarding game and for a long time I have been working with just the board and the world, that is no skateboarder. The animations on the board woks fine but since I want the board and the rider to be "synched", ie the feet doesn't go through the board and such when doing tricks, I animated the two objects together for all tricks. For those who doesn't know about skateboarding, in many tricks the board is supposed to rotate separately from the rider, for example the board rotating 360 degrees while the rider is stationary on the same axle.

They were modelled and rigged separately and then loaded in to one blender file. I have then animated the together and in blender the animations work fine but when imported to Unity I get all sorts of weird behaviour. For example only one of the objects animating. I have tried all types of animation import sucy as legacy but nothing changes.

Is what I'm trying to do possible or does anyone have a good suggestion of an alternate way?

i would animate the board as a bone that's part of the character and parent the specific board to it at runtime. I did it for weapons in a game and it worked fine.
