Color Correction Curve filter tints objects rendered below its camera

I'm using the Color Correction Curve filter on a secondary camera in a 2D game. It is set in the top-right corner over the normal camera. The secondary camera can only see certain objects, and it cannot see the background. The normal camera shows through the secondary camera because the secondary camera is set to Don't Clear on flags.

I want to tint all objects in the secondary camera red, but not the transparent areas in between or the display of the first camera underneath.

However, whenever I change the curves, the entire secondary camera display area is affected, instead of only the objects that should be rendered. This means that even if the camera does not see anything, it sees red.

To check, I set the curves so that only red is displayed, and set the Culling Mask to none. While the secondary camera preview is completely black, it renders a reddish square in the corner, instead of nothing at all (as it would without the filter).

Is there a way to modify the Color Correction Curve script, or is there an alternative, such that only objects to be rendered will be tinted, instead of all objects in the camera viewpoint?
