Question by Yasser_E · Aug 16, 2015 at 08:19 PM · c#unity 5

I cannot move a gameObject in my scene.

I am trying to move a cube to the right in my scene with this piece of code, but it does not work. What is the problem?

 using UnityEngine;
 using System.Collections;

 public class Jump : MonoBehaviour {

 Vector3 endPos;

 void Update()
 {
     if(Input.GetButtonDown("right") && gameObject.transform.position == endPos)
     {
         endPos = new Vector3(transform.position.x + 1, transform.position.y, transform.position.z);
     }
 }
 }

gameObject.transform.position == endPos will be false almost every time.

You've too update transform.position to endPos

 using UnityEngine;
 using System.Collections;

 public class Jump : MonoBehaviour {

     Vector3 endPos;

     void Update()
     {
         if(Input.GetButtonDown("Horizontal"))
         {
             if (Input.GetAxis("Horizontal") > 0)
             {
                 Debug.Log("right");
                 endPos = new Vector3(transform.position.x + 1, transform.position.y, transform.position.z);
                 transform.position = endPos;
             }
             else
             {
                 Debug.Log("left");
                 endPos = new Vector3(transform.position.x - 1, transform.position.y, transform.position.z);
                 transform.position = endPos;
             }

         }
     }
 }

The code should work fine. I Updated $$anonymous$$y answer a bit with Debug Log. Try that. Also if you new to Unity check some tutorial at http://unity3d.com/learn
