Objects visible through terrain

There seems to be a terrain shader issue that many people have reported, but no one seems to have solved.

http://imgur.com/kPXCvba http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/967887/terrain-is-transparent-to-shadows.html http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/924520/objects-are-visible-through-terrain.html http://www.directupload.net/file/d/3927/pkteveaf_png.htm

Objects are visible, even though they are behind the terrain. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

You say 'no one seems to have solved' but that thread contains the fixes others did to fix it - have you tried those? If you start a vanilla project without Asset store extensions/imports, can you reproduce?

I'm looking to discover the cause of this, across many projects. Its not caused by a specific asset store extension.

Some of the "solutions" are to NOT use the unity 5 shader. That is not a solution.

Try adding texture on terrain and make it a rigid body.

Old thread, but I managed to resolve my issue by starting up a new project with just the terrain and model to see if i could replicate it - and i couldn't. So i took screenshots of all the relevant information like graphics, quality, build and player settings and compared them to mine. Turns out I had an additional Always Included Shader in my graphics settings that was the cause. (It was Nature/terrain/ something something). So i deleted it from the array and voila! I can use any of the shaders on the terrain and it works fine :)
