which is better: limiting texture maps vs materials.

I am texturing several modular building pieces. I have 2 choices:

  1. Texture map each individual piece (some in an atlas), but ultimately ending up with 10-15 texture maps. One material per object.

  2. OR Use about 3-4 textures (reused) and use multiple materials on each object. Probably 2-4. But those materials would be used multiple times through out the entire project.

W$$anonymous$$ch would be less draw calls and memory intensive?
