Call a function from individual scripts vs calling from manager?

I have a few scripts that use the following code for setting the objects velocity:

 void SetVelocity()
     {
         Vector3 vel = GetComponent<Rigidbody>().velocity;
 
         vel.x = 0.0f;
         vel.y = 0.0f;
         vel.z = 0.0f;
 
         GetComponent<Rigidbody>().velocity = vel;
     }

Currently I have this function in each script I need to set the velocity, leading to a lot of duplicate code, is it better to have this just once in my manager and then call when I need it? Or does it matter?

You should have a class extending MonoBehovior with this SetVelocity method. Then for all the scripts where you want this method, you make them extend your new class instead of MonoBehavior. This way the code will not be duplicated.
