2D Enemy Aiming AI C#

Hello. I am trying to create a SHMUP type game where there are bullets! (No surprise there) I have a gameobject tied to the enemy called cannon, and it's supposed to dictate the rotation at which the bullet is fired. Here is the script:

 void Update()
 {
  GameObject player = null;
         foreach (GameObject obj in GameObject.FindGameObjectsWithTag("Player"))
         {
             player = obj;
         }
         if (player != null)
         {
             transform.rotation = Quaternion.LookRotation(player.transform.position - transform.position);
         }
      }

I am aware that I'm using an array system for the player detection. A few problems: It says that it can't detect the "player" It doesn't aim.

I would appreciate all help.(Even more so if you can improve the player detection so that it doesn't use an array). Thanks!
