Drag and drop UI javascript

Been looking around for a while now, I'm trying to click a 3d object in game and drag it to a UI element, had a look at the Event trigger system, not sure how to get 'drop' to work or 'pointerUp' isn't good since it only works if the mouse doesn't leave the area.

Using a raycast to select the item but not sure how to drop it on the UI

My drag and drop tutorial should help. It's C#, but the principles are the same

Thank, already seen this video, but I think there's a couple difference if I want to convert this in javascript which i'm not sure how, was hoping for something simpler, I'll have a look at it again later to see if it helps

had a quick look at it and works fine for simple UI interactions but not sure how it can fit in my case since I'm starting with a 3D object and not calling an OnBeginDrag function; also could not find any javascript equivalent and documention for it, and seem very complicated to me...

essentially all I need is an event that is called when I let go of left click when I hit a specific UI element in javascript, surely there a way simpler way? Something simple like a raycast or something? thx though

i found i can use something like this, but doesnt return anything if I click outside the UI element, just like On$$anonymous$$ouseUp(), been stuck on this for 3 days :/ Anyone?

 if (Input.Get$$anonymous$$ouseButtonUp(0))
     {
         if(EventSystem.current.currentSelectedGameObject)
         {
             Debug.Log(EventSystem.current.currentSelectedGameObject);
         }
     }
