a question about rotation

can i rotate a gameobject without rotating it`s child?

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. You can change the child's rotation without rotating the parent's, but I'm not sure about vice versa.

You can get the rotation of the parent and apply it with negative, to the child.

Otherwise i don't think that's possible...

Anyway, you can keep the object outside the parent (So it's NOT a child) and just get the "Parent's" position and apply it to the child. This way you will only get the transformation of the parent..

You should not keep it as a child but rather set the position of the object in code, if you don't want it to rotate.

 public GameObject fauxParent;
 private void Update()
 {
       //fauxParent has to be set in the inspector or in code using transform.Find("").gameObject;
       transform.position = fauxParent.transform.position;
 }

thanks but i solved it. i was trying to rotate the root (pelvis) from my character without moving all rest of his body, but without "dechildrening" it because it will broke the animation.

i had to make the animation again.
