Question by Wabunga · Nov 02, 2015 at 03:44 PM · animatoranimationstate

How do I speed up an animation in scripting?

I want a mechanic where the player can speed up their attacks(animations) on certain conditions, but can't figure out how to do that without just duplicating all my attack animations with a higher speed and calling the specific one I'd want. This seems like it would be really annoying.

Fortunately for me, it looks like .speed is something I can modify. Unfortunately, there is no example code and I have no idea what to try to get it to work. http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/AnimationState-speed.html

So how do I do this:

if (stuff) {play animation;}

if (stuff && fastStuff) {play animation at 2x speed;}

This is legacy animation. Are you trying to do this in $$anonymous$$ecanim? you need stuff from Animator component.

Yeah, I found this which seems to work well enough I guess. Originally I just wanted to skip the first few frames of animation, so I'll use this to double the whole animator speed when I enter an attack for like 5 frames, and that will effectively skip the first 5 frames of the animation. This would also make those 5 frames have double the framerate, so it might look weird, but I can fix that when I come to it.
