Converting World Units to Screen Units? C#

Hi all!

From what i understand, Screen unit coordinates and World unit coordinates are measured differently?

I have a camera that is exactly -18 World units away from theSliderDummy which is sitting at 0,0,0.

The code I have is this:

 theDistanceBetweenPlayerAndCamera = Vector3.Distance(theSliderDummy.transform.localPosition, theCamera.transform.localPosition);
 
 theSliderDummy.transform.position = Vector3.Slerp(theSliderDummy.transform.position, (Camera.main.ScreenToWorldPoint(new Vector3(touch.position.x,touch.position.y,theDistanceBetweenPlayerAndCamera))), step);

Ive worked out that the distance is correct at 9.85f in Screen units like this:

 theSliderDummy.transform.position = Vector3.Slerp(theSliderDummy.transform.position, (Camera.main.ScreenToWorldPoint(new Vector3(touch.position.x,touch.position.y,9.85f))), step);

The above code works perfectly.

logic tells me that if i double 9.85 i get roughly 18 however when i do this theSliderDummy gets further and further away in the .z axis, the console prints out that it climbs to 200 units away within seconds.

What could i be doing wrong? how do i convert World units to Screen units? I'm not even sure that this is the issue?
