Question by Arsinx · Nov 09, 2015 at 01:08 PM · augmented reality

Is this Possbile in Unity, using Augmented Reality?

We have to make a project in which whenever a user moves is smartphone outside, the street and the buildings will be branded with a company's images, and some of the buildings will appear to float? I wanted to know if this was possible in unity and if not then some close workarounds we could suggest instead.

Unity has a bunch of AR Sdk, Vuforia, $$anonymous$$etaio among others.

As for the building recognition, I think they have a demo of the topic.

I searched but couldn't find any links to building Recognition, Could you point me to some? to clarify, I dont want to detect a specific building, but any building.

Any building won't do. The SD$$anonymous$$ needs something to be recognised. $$anonymous$$aybe AR is not what you need then.

Vuforia uses a marker picture and compare the camera feed with that marker. If common patterns are found then Vuforia considers the tracking to be found.

For instance your marker may contain the Coke logo, then pointing your device towards any Coke logo will trigger the detection.

But you cannot just point at any random item and expect it to recognize what it is. AR is not that far yet.
