Question by PlayFennec · Dec 31, 2015 at 09:36 AM · inspector

Inspector "add component" menu problem

Whenever I click on an object and try to add a component to it within the inspector I get this weird glitch - the first drop down menu opens fine, but then when I hover my mouse over the options, they all appear highlighted (blue). When I try to open one of the options (example: 2D physics) it doesn't extend the menu to the side to show extra options, instead a couple of the options above 2D physics partially turn dark grey.alt text If I click on 2D physics the whole drop-down menu becomes completely messed up. alt text Can anyone help me out ? I thought it was something to do with Unity 5.3, but the same problem persists on 5.2

I would report it as a bug to UT. When reporting bugs: Add images, put a lot of text, link to video if possible.

Unity has an automated system that trashes bugs without a lot of info, so most of the bug reports are never read, never replied to (and never fixed) ;)

I'm having the same issue on $$anonymous$$SI GS40, very annoying. Reported it as a big but except being set as open on 24th February nothing changed. It may be either difficult to reproduce or it's the bug trashing system @Socapex mentioned.

I'm having the same problem on one of my laptops. I reported it as a bug. It's in the Open state, not sure if anything will be done as it may be hard to replicate. It seems to depend on hardware.

This issue is most likely to be graphics driver related. I don't have this issue myself, but I managed to help @jimmy_skowronski with this issue.

I'd recommend updating your drivers first if you haven't already to see if that fixes it. If that doesn't help I would try forcing Unity to launch in a different graphics mode, such as DX9 or OpenGL. You can see the different command line options here: http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/CommandLineArguments.html

Here you can see an example of how to change the default used when launching Unity http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/447206/forcing-opengl-in-windows-editor.html

Hopefully this issue will be fixed, either by future drivers, or by Unity (depending on where the issue lies), but this work around should work in the meantime.
