Question by Grappy · Jan 21, 2016 at 11:41 AM · inputfieldspace

inputfield set automatic space after the 3. letter

Hallo,

if i write something in a inputfield, i want that the text in the Inputfield automatically sets a dot after the third letter.

does anybody know how to do this? i made something like this, but it doesn't work:

 using UnityEngine;
 using System.Collections;
 using UnityEngine.UI;

 public class input : MonoBehaviour {
     private Text name;

     void Update () {
         if (name.text.Length == 3) {
             name.text = name.text + ".";
                 name.GetComponent<Text>().text = name.text + ".";}}

 }

thanks

Add the following code to your inputfield. Add a new event to the "On Value Changed" on the inputfield. Drag the inputfield gameobject itself into the object selection slot. Choose the method input.AdjustText() from the drop down. Done

 using UnityEngine;
 using System.Collections;
 using UnityEngine.UI;

 public class input: MonoBehaviour {

     InputField text;

     // Use this for initialization
     void Start () {
         text = GetComponent<InputField> ();
     }

     public void AdjustText () {
         if (text.text.Length == 3) {
             text.text += ".";
             text.caretPosition = text.text.Length;
         }
     }
 }
