Question by MrLiber777 · Jan 25, 2016 at 06:20 PM · score

Multiple objects problem

Hi everyone, you lnow I'm trying to create falling balls which fall into basket, like in "Catch Game", but the problem is that my score doesn't show numbers on screen, besides if I write public int score in "Score" script my Score is shown as a gap which counts numbers, this is so weird.

Let me mention that I use multiple falling balls with diferent colors.

Here is my script for score:

 using UnityEngine;
 using UnityEngine.UI;
 using System.Collections;

 public class Score : MonoBehaviour
 {
     public Text scoreText;
     public int diamondValue;
     public int diamond1Value;
     public int diamond2Value;
     public int diamond3Value;
     public int diamond4Value;
     public int diamond5Value;

     private int score;

     // Use this for initialization
     void Start()
     {
         score = 0;

         UpdateScore();
         UpdateScore1();
         UpdateScore2();
         UpdateScore3();
         UpdateScore4();
         UpdateScore5();
     }

     void OnTriggerEnter2D()
     {
         score += diamondValue;
     }

     void UpdateScore()
     {
         scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
     }

     void OnTriggerEnter2D1()
     {
         score += diamond1Value;
     }

     void UpdateScore1()
     {
         scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
     }

     void OnTriggerEnter2D2()
     {
         score += diamond2Value;
     }

     void UpdateScore2()
     {
         scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
     }

     void OnTriggerEnter2D3()
     {
         score += diamond3Value;
     }

     void UpdateScore3()
     {
         scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
     }

     void OnTriggerEnter2D4()
     {
         score += diamond4Value;
     }

     void UpdateScore4()
     {
         scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
     }

     void OnTriggerEnter2D5()
     {
         score += diamond5Value;
     }

     void UpdateScore5()
     {
         scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
     }
 }

You never tell your UI to update the score. Also, there is no OnTriggerEnter2D1() so you will need a single OnTriggerEnter2D() and determine which trigger it was. For example, modify your methods to be like:

  void OnTriggerEnter2D()
  {
     //determine which collider it was. We'll assume #5
      score += diamond5Value;
      UpdateScore5();
  }

  void UpdateScore5()
  {
      scoreText.text = "Score:\n" + score;
  }
