Animation Help

I am making a 2d game. I've set up a few animation clips for my player, they play correctly according to the conditions I have set, but the animations continue to play for a few seconds even after the conditions are not met...

For example, I have a walk right and a walk up animation. I press UP, the walk up animation plays correctly, then if I press RIGHT, my player will immediately move right like it should, however the walk up animation will continue to play for a second or two, then the walk right animation will begin. It is as if it must wait for the last animation to loop once more before the next can begin.

I've tried unticking "Has Exit Time" on all of the transitions, this makes the animations switch on time, however, each animation only plays the first sprite of the animation.

I have 4 animations setup: Walk Up, Walk Down, Walk H, Idle. I have a transition from Any State, connected to all of them and that is it. Didn't think any of that is the issue though since the animations do play, they are just delayed... but then again, I am not experienced with the Unity animation system so I thought I better include it lol.

I have searched the forums, but I've had no luck. Just in case though, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate question, and please for the love of god link me to said question. Cheers.
