Modify State Machine Live Training example

I would like to modify the state machine in the Unity Live training example to have a function that is called upon entering the state and another that is called when exiting. Is that possible?

Hello, yes, it is possible.

  • Select the State in Animator you want those events to be called, in Inspector, click Add Behaviour

  • Create the script and open it. The script should contain commented OnStateEnter() and OnStateExit(), passing Animator and other necessary parameters. These functions are called when the State is entered, or Exited respectively.

Is this for $$anonymous$$ecanim? The state machine in the live training exercise doesnt use Animator.

Hi, yes, mecanim is just broader word for new animation system (Animator, states etc.) vs Legacy Animation system (http://docs.unity3d.com/460/Documentation/$$anonymous$$anual/$$anonymous$$ecanimAnimationSystem.html)

You create state machines inside Animator window (mecanim), make transitions, blends etc. and you can get Exit() Enter() calls from those states by the steps I have previously provided.
