Creating New Folders in Project Folder

sigh

I know this probably sounds stupid but I can't create new folders in my Project tab. I started Unity today and i have been following along with the online tutorials, I went to create a new folder (by clicking the create button in the Project tab or right clicking) and the folder is created inside the asset folder within. Is this meant to happen and I'm being stupid? or How can i stop this from happening?

All your scripts and assets are supposed to be placed into ProjectFolder/Assets/. I've not seen anywhere inside unity editor where you could create anything outside of it.

What exactly is your problem? Do you not want the folder to be inside of the asset folder?

What you're describing is correct, expected behaviour. If you're creating something in the Editor, it's an asset, so it gets added to the /Assets folder of your project. You shouldn't generally be altering anything in the other folders such as Temp or Library.
