Question by Kerihobo · Mar 07, 2016 at 12:37 AM · lightinglightmaplightmappinglightmapsphotoshop

Can't edit lightmaps.

Hi, in Unity 4 I was able to open my lightbaked EXR files in photoshop, save them and unity would have my updated maps. Currently in Unity 5, I edit the exr, save it in the identical format, and Unity refuses to acknowledge any changes. In fact in the lighting window, when i check the lightmap, it appears un-changed, yet the file itself reflects my changes.

Well, Unity switched to PBR, so the lightmaps are only a smaller part of a much larger system now. It may not be possible to change them anymore with the new setup. Maybe try disabling GI and use legacy rendering paths?

I messaged Unity about it and they confirmed for me that it's a bug. Closing and re-opening Unity will then show your re-painted bake-results. Also, if you repaint your bake result while the game is running, it updates then as well.
