How to move using translate.transform a hinge joint with motor turned on?

I would like to move a hinge joint using the Translate.transform. Is it possible? I tried parenting it to an empty GameObject and then in the update function I tried to move it up. But I can see that it has some kind of constraint. On the other hand when I turn on the hinge joint rigidy body "is kinematic" to on. Then the body moves but the motor doesnt work (the body doesnt rotate).

So my question is how to move a hinge joint using the Translate? Is it possible? If not, then how to resolve this?
