how to use nfc reader in unity

I'm looking to make a game like skylanders and I'm looking to use my nfc reader to load a tag in unity but I don't know how to use my reader in unity, does anyone know to get unity to recognize my reader and say display an image. Thanks, any help would be fantastic.
