Unity as a Simulation Visualization

Hi everyone,

since two weeks I'm discovering the abilities of Unity. I'm pretty new to C#/Unity and trying to find out what is the best approach to solve my task.

In general I'm planing to write a simulation software for a Traffic-Control-System. Controlled are automated vehicles guided on virtual paths.

The virtual model of the environment and the paths are defined in autocad. This model is not only defining the paths on which the vehicles can move, but also the direction and other information's.

I successfully exported the 2D-Wireframe to the Unity conform FBX Format. But every relative position information seems to be gone. I can see that the transforms change their position, but each element has the position (0,0,0). Any other information seems also to be gone. So am I doing something wrong or is fbx not meant for my kind of application and I have to define manually for each vehicle environment a unity scene?
