FBX Import size limitations

Hi,

I am working for a big industrial company and I need to display a really big scene stored in a FBX file. This file comme from theire CAD software and is up to 800 Mb, and, as expected, we reached Unity capacity to load it. After about 2 hours of import, I get tons of the following error messages :

We have grown over the fileID boundaries. Too many objects of type Mesh in one file

and

We have grown over the fileID boundaries. Too many objects of type GameObject in one file

I understand that the file is too big, and I must ask to my client to split it in several parts, but I don't know what are the numerical limits, and so, how they must split.

So, my question is simple : what are the limits of Unity in terme of objects/mesh in a single FBX file ?

We finally developped a CAD importer which converted the CAD format into a custom format loadable into Unity
