3D Character control Facing issues.

I am very new to Unity so please excuse what may be a very rudimentary question :)

I am trying to get a 3D third person platform character who can run up walls, on ceilings, etc. I have the gravity sorted out and have struggled to get the character aligned correctly to the floor / wall / ceiling. I have that working now, but now my issue is the control. My transform code is not relative to the camera.

 void Update () {
   moveDir = new Vector3(Input.GetAxisRaw("Horizontal"), 0, Input.GetAxisRaw("Vertical")).normalized;}
 
 void FixedUpdate ()
 {
   GetComponent<Rigidbody>().AddForce(transform.TransformDirection(moveDir) * moveForce * Time.deltaTime * 50, ForceMode.Force); }


This keeps my character correctly aligned to gravity, but "forward" on the joystick is now aligned to the character face.

If I use this line instead:

 GetComponent<Rigidbody>().AddForce(moveDir * moveForce * Time.deltaTime * 50, ForceMode.Force)

My controls are fine but I can lose the ability to transform relative to the ground / wall / ceiling.

Any advice is really appreciated :) Thank you.
