Is it possible to save data from gameplay to editor?

Hi! I'm making a simple runner game like Manuganu (just for the sake of learning unity) and since there must be a lot of different collectible stuff like coins or crystals I wanted to make the process of positioning it (on the location) as quick and accurate as possible. So, my idea was to record the character path during gameplay, and then position all that stuff along the path. And the question is how can I do it? Or what is the best way to implement this in unity? I know I can use Trail Renderer to render the character path. But it will disappear as soon as I stop the gameplay so it won't do.
