Unity 5 projectors not working

Projectors don’t seem to be working for me in Unity 5. In order to remove external factors, I have started a new scene, imported standard assets → effects. I have created a plane in the scene at 0, 0, 0 to act as the ground. I simply dragged the projector prefabs into the scene. The projectors are aimed at the ground however nothing happens. The most I can get to happen is that if I remove the default directional light, the grid projector projects horizontal lines only (no grid) on to the entire plane (outside of the bounds of the projector). Can someone help me troubleshoot what is going on?

I agree, they seem completely broken and have been for a month or so.

WTH, when they gonna fix?
