Terrain smoothing brush opacity settings

Noob Q I guess.

Does anyone else find the terrain smoothing brush overly 'light-handed' in comparison to the height increase brush?

I find myself repeatedly adjusting the opacity level up and down when editing terrain data, so thinking there should be an easier way.
