Unity causes computer to crash/freeze.

I’ve been using Unity for the past few weeks but have just recently encountered a major error. Searched around for a solution and found nothing like what I’ve been experiencing.

Running Unity 5.3.5f1 (64-bit) on Windows 10.

After Unity has been open for 10 or 15 minutes, everything freezes. The cursor disappears, the keyboard becomes unresponsive, the monitor begins rapidly flickering on and off, and rainbow-colored scan lines and snow streak horizontally across the screen.
CtrlAltDel does nothing. I have to power down and restart.

The computer gives no warning that this is about to happen, like the fan running harder or other programs slowing down. It occurs spontaneously.
This has just begun happening. So far, Unity has been perfectly stable. I’m reasonably sure Unity is to blame though, as I’m only encountering this when Unity is open and running.

I haven’t changed any major settings in Unity that I’m aware of that may be causing this to happen now. Would appreciate any suggestions as to what may be causing this.

Unity freezes ALL the time - I can’t even find a fix for my freezes. Unity denies it’s them, but it happens all the time on multiple PC’s/projects.

However… for this case, it truly sounds like a CPU issue. Are you overclocking your CPU? Do you have an ancient one? Update your chipsets + graphics card drivers and start monitoring your CPU/GPU temperatures.
