Question by Kindlesmith · Jun 26, 2016 at 09:01 AM · c#consoledebug.logfree-version

Console Debug / Print do not show

Tried several ways in a project to make the console show me something.

Debug.Log ("TEST"); UnityEngine.Debug.Log("TEST"); UnityEngine.Debug.LogWarning("TEST"); print("TEST");

None of these lines produce anything, regardless if they are in Update or Start. I've clicked on the three tabs to toggle them on/off (speech bubble with !, warning sign with !, stop sign with !), but even without doing this no numbers show up to tell me there are any messages. The script has been added to the player prefab.

I checked to make sure the console was functional for errors, and it sure does print out errors. It just ignores the above commands. Not sure what is going on. This is my first time making use of this command. Using free version of latest Unity3d.

Make sure that those statements are being executed. Post your code here to make it more clear.

I've fixed the issue. I tried coming back to this post to delete it, or at least post saying I fixed it. Finding it difficult to navigate Unity's forums. The problem was an error on my part. After hours of checking stuff I took a short break, came back and instantly the error jumped at me. Feel kinda dumb for it XD Unity recognizes update and Update. Yep. One typo and everything broke down, or to be correct, didn't even run. So, the console commands do work as they should. Sorry for any trouble caused.

If your script is attached to your prefab, a copy of your prefab must first exist in the game world.

If you are getting errors in that script at runtime, and the error is happening before the print line, then it will never run until that error is addressed.
