Question by PiroKun · Jul 08, 2016 at 12:23 PM · androidcameravrwebcamtexturesamsung

How to get smooth device camera in gearvr like passthrough option?

Hi! im trying to do something like gearvr's passthrough camera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZbZ_3QqO8k , but with custom UI. (ironman style)

Passthrough camera in gearvr looks so fluid, but i just try a single plane (unlit material) with webcamtexture (in low res 60 fps), and looks so lag in comparision.

There is another way to do this?

Hi @ProdGema nope, looks like is unsolvable in unity. I tried with androidStudio with camera2 api. is less laggy but nothing compared with gearVR camera passtrought. I think they can do that because they do the software and the hardware(so they have more low level access to camera).
