Re-define a GameObject in Javascript?

Hello,

I'm moving a gameObject every frame through scripting, and when the gameObject reaches a certain point I need it to change its "value" (the object stored in the variable) and reset its position.

 var asteroid:GameObject;        //this is the game object I'm moving
 var asteroidAry:GameObject[];        //an array of 10 or so different prefabs
 var asteroidSpd:float = 0.5;        //asteroid speed 
 
 function Update () {
     //I move the asteroid once per frame
     asteroid.transform.position.x += asteroidSpd;
 
     if(asteroid.transform.position.x >= 100){
         //eventually I want to set it to a random prefab from the array
         asteroid = asteroidAry[3];
         asteroid.transform.position.x = 0; 
     }
 }

Any advice on how I can do this? Thank you!

Are there any errors? Should describe what's happening. Have you tried setting the asteroid randomly?

 asteroid = asteroidAry[Random.Range(0,asteroidAry.length)];
