Question by Double-V · Aug 16, 2016 at 05:14 AM · mesh3dfaces

Unwanted bonus face artifact on an imported mesh.

After I exported a mesh in .obj format to Unity it gained one face on the outside that is not visible in the 3d modelling program (Wings 3d), only in Unity. I'm adding screenshots with import settings, but I've already tried tweaking those.

Any ideas why it happened?

Looks like a wrong triangulation. Try converting the faces into triangles before exporting the model as obj.

Wings 3d has export options for most formats and in .obj options there is a tesselation option and it has "triangulate" tickbox. I suppose it's that thing.
