Unity WebGL build on IE11 Problems

I am using Unity 5.4.1f1 (64 bit) and I installed WebGL support from the 5.4.1f1 Download Assistant.

I am trying to build and run a project which I have built selecting the WebGL platform build selection.I am trying to run it on Internet Explorer 11.

I note from the Unity documentation / User manual / WebGL Browser Compatibility (https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/webgl-browsercompatibility.html) in the desktop browser compatibility table that WebGL IS compatible with MS Internet Explorer 11 for IE11 and higher.

When it has finished compiling, Internet explorer tries to run, but I am getting a warning message saying "Please note that your browser is not currently supported for this Unity WebGL content. try installing Firefox, or press Ok if you wish to continue anyway."

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I might get it running.

The application is very simple looking at a cube. It works fine in Chrome and Firefox? The Unity manual says WebGL should be OK in IE11 but not on my IE11 browser

I tried also on another machine (Dell Precision 7710 laptop Windows 10) with MS Edge and had the same problem.

I tried updating my NVidia drivers to the latest (Quadro FX) but that did not solve the issue.

Maybe there is some setting in IE that I need to set?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

IE11 is not a supported browser. The docs say "It is only listed in this compatibility table for completeness."

The warning is shown in IE11 regardless of whether it can run the content or not. You can remove that warning from editing the JS files (just search for the text).

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response.

The table is, for me, somewhat ambiguous. I would have thought if IE11 is an unsupported browser it should say No in the table not Yes. $$anonymous$$aybe it means Yes it is "compatible" (well sort of, sometimes, maybe, whatever the author meant by "compatible") but is not supported.

$$anonymous$$aybe what is needed is another table showing which browsers are supported and which are not supported?

I could remove the warning as you suggest but my app won't run anyway in IE11.

The manual also says "You should advise IE users to update to $$anonymous$$icrosoft’s new Edge browser." O$$anonymous$$ I will try again on $$anonymous$$S Edge....

Thanks again.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

For me the table is somewhat misleading. I mistakenly made the inference that "compatible" meant that it would work. I don't quite know what the author means by "compatible". It says Unity WebGL is "compatible" with IE11 but the simplest Unity webGL application doesn't work in IE11 even though its "compatible".

Since my WebGLapplication doesn't run in IE11 I think that I should not disable the warning message.

I note that the manual says "You should advise IE users to update to $$anonymous$$icrosoft’s new Edge browser" I will give that another try.

Thanks
