Driving simulator reaction time data collection in response to trigger events

Hey Yall,

I'm really stuck in a a bind here and I feel as if I've bit off more than I can chew (not familiar with C# at all). I am currently attempting to collect reaction time data in a driving simulator to secondary events and do not have a clue how to script this into the simulation. Let me explain:

The participants in the study will be driving along in the simulator and I set up event triggers along the course so that when the player enters the trigger, it flashes a black box in the periphery of their visual field for 100ms (happens approximately 30 times in the whole simulation). The point of the study is to gauge their reaction times to these events so I can see how visual attention is affected by certain driving conditions (hope this is making sense). The box appears at predetermined visual angles as soon as they enter the trigger for a total of 100ms. I want the participants to react to these events by pressing a [button] as quickly as possible when, and if, they notice them. I would like to collect data on the reaction time to each event and have that printed in some fashion for data analysis at a future point in time. I am a master's student at Cornell working on this project that I need to execute because I said I could but am suddenly feeling a little bit lost. I spent the last few weeks teaching myself how to use Unity and have gotten pretty far and built the simulation myself with the help of the great tutorials available in the Unity community. Regardless, I would love to compensate someone generously for helping me out with this but being a self-supporting student, I'm a little bit tight on money. However, if you are able to solve my problem, I will find a meaningful way to make it worth your while as you will have alleviated much of my anxiety (maybe in the form of some gift or favor returned- even if it's just some advice on life/health/fitness - i know a lot about health/fitness). Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you do get a chance to try and help me out, please leave your email in the comments and I will send you my gratitudes :).

Thank you all very much in advance for your help and kindness :)

Sagar
