Why wont this 2D sprite Flip when its rotation passes 90 & -90 degrees?

Ok so i'm try trying to get a sprite to flip its orientation when it passes 90 & -90 degrees on the z-axis but when i try to nothing happenes.The sprite follows the mouse on screen and rotates on the z-axis while doing so. It seems to work fine when it passes 0 in both directions but not when i give it 90 & -90.

Heres what i have:

         difference.Normalize();
 
         float rotZ = Mathf.Atan2(difference.y, difference.x) * Mathf.Rad2Deg;
         transform.rotation = Quaternion.Euler(0f, 0f, rotZ + rotOffset);
 
         if (this.gameObject.transform.rotation.z >= 90 && rotationPoz == true)
         {
             Flip();
 
             rotationNeg = true;
             rotationPoz = false;

         }
         else if (this.gameObject.transform.rotation.z <= -90 && rotationNeg == true)
         {
             Flip();
