How can I get Unity to work on win7?

Question

Hello, I have a dell vostro 3550 with intel i5 2,3Ghz, 8 GB Ram and win7 pro 64 Bit. I tried to install unity 5.4.2f2 (64-bit) as well as the 32-bit version. Everytime I start the program it freezes after 2-3 clicks. When I minimize and maximize the window the view updates and I can see my last actions. Obviously I cant work like t$$anonymous$$s. I have already tried to set the performance settings on the Catalyst Control Center from $$anonymous$$gh performance to energy saving like @darks$$anonymous$$nes said. It doesn't work.

I have also tried to deactivate DEP in the system settings. It is still not working. Has anybody a solution to t$$anonymous$$s?

Try installing the latest .NET Framework linked and start unity after its installed https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653 tell me if t$$anonymous$$s worked.

Thank you @jimicoolio for the fast reply! I have already installed .Net Framework 4.5 and 4.6. So unfortunately this is not working...

May not be the source of the problem for you; but I had t$$anonymous$$s problem as well at first. The issue came from my GPU having issues rendering Unity after a few updates. I figured t$$anonymous$$s out when I replaced my GPU.

Hmm thank you for your replies. @14ercooper I use for example Blender without any problems, so I dont think this is the source of my troubles :/ @Usman791 I have already tried both versions...

If you could create a dump file of Unity once it freezes, it may help people pinpoint your specific error. There are tutorials for creating dump files.

Ok. But can you create dump files if it is not crashing? Because freezing doesn't mean crashing in my case. The program works well, but the view is just freezing.

Alright I finally figured out how to create dump files. You can download it here Unity.DMP I hope this helps someone figuring out the cause of my problem!

You should try 32 bit unity version
