FPS Controller loosing input - unable to move and or look around

I am building a VR project in Unity 5.4.3f1 - currently i am using the FPS controller to test and explore the scene on PC. for the forth time now - the FPS controller has lost its input when testing. No keyboard control no mouse control. The most recent project was rebuilt from the beginning (some folders were copy and pasted) T$$anonymous$$s time after a successful build to Android APK, when i returned to the project on PC the FPS had lost input - I am using the cinematic image effects, free hdri images, 3 free furniture assets from the app store, also real time lighting.

Can anyone help with what might be going wrong?
