Enable / Disable Static Object's Parent At Runtime

Hi, Can I enable / disable a bunch of static object's root parent at runtime during gameplay. Is is really bad for mobile application in terms of performance implications?

I have a big environment consists of 50+ rooms in a single scene, and I want to do my own culling depends on the user current situated room (e..g disable every room that is 2 rooms away from player's current standing in room.

I have given this a try at my PC desktop, doesn't see any performance hit. And the drawcalls benefit is HUGE. But I still quite worry about this approach on mobile (especially VR). We're not suppose to move static objects, but can we enable / disable their parent root. (each of my room has an empty root object)
