Question by AndyCobb · Dec 18, 2016 at 11:32 AM · assetsscene viewcertification

using assets in scene window and hierarchy

Hi, noob here--looking for an answer to what I know is a very remedial question.

I've just downloaded and opened unity, (I'm following the tutorial for the certification course) downloaded Zombie Toys from the asset store, and now am looking for the next step where I can see them in scene window and hierarchy.

I've tried some things recommended to me (thanks Hellium) I've tried reloading the project, putting the assets in the project window (they're all there after downloading from asset store), running it in "scene" rather than "game" mode, unfortunately I'm still having the problem.

Any insight is welcome. Thank you!

If all you've done is download the asset, they won't be in your scene view or hierarchy yet - they're just assets in your project, but they need to be instantiated (i.e. created).

Click on the project tab (normally at the bottom of your screen) and find a prefab (normally with a little blue cube icon) and drag that into your scene view or hierarchy.
