Crashes revert saved scriptable objects

I've come across a rather niche problem - I'm storing a lot of data into scriptable objects that I save and load from Resources. These load between work sessions perfectly fine - as long as I close unity myself.

However, if Unity ever crashes, I've found that all the scriptable objects that I have saved during the past session reverts back to their original state, from when I started the session. I have verified this by force-crashing the program through task-manager > details.

I'll give an example to clarify:

Object 1 (originally set white) > Object 1 (set blue) > Save Object 1 > Object 1 (set yellow) > Load Object 1

Object 1 is now set as blue.

If I now close Unity manually and boot it up again, lo and behold, Object 1 is blue.

However, if I instead crash Unity and boot it up again, Object 1 will be back to white. (All other changes to the project such as scripts, hierarchy changes etc. are fine if I've saved them).

I'm suspecting that Unity only saves Scriptable Objects to disk upon exiting the program - is there a way around this? Or do I have to manually reboot the project every few minutes to ensure no progress is lost?
