Distribute distances between configurable joint links

Ive got a rope that Im making linking cubes together using configurable joints and drawing a line renderer over the whole thing. This works just fine in most instances. Im manipulating both ends to launch objects. When I pull on both ends the links spasm about uncontrollably. I believe that this is being caused by their being too much distance between the links at this point. Ive noticed that pulling on one end only moves the end link though. Is there a way to cause the joints to distribute their distance evenly across the length to prevent this spasming? Or some other solution?
