Prefab - Mesh Combines for some reason

Hello,

I'm Instantiating a prefab that contains a building, this building is broken up into 3 sub meshes, pretty basic stuff.

However, the mesh for all these models upon Instantiation are combined for some reason. On top of that, when I try and dynamically move the model in runtime, it doesn't actually move (the mesh remains still).

This never used to happen until I updated Unity to 5.6. Any ideas? Thanks.

Ah, just figured it out.

On the model import settings, you need to uncheck 'Weld Vertices'. Why this is default on, is not clear?

we tick this Weld Vertices checkbox to combine vertices that share the same position in space. This optimizes the vertex count on $$anonymous$$eshes by reducing their overall number. This checkbox is ticked by default.

In some cases, you might need to switch this optimization off when importing your $$anonymous$$eshes; for example, if you have constructed your $$anonymous$$esh in such a way that you intentionally have duplicate vertices which occupy the same position, and you want to use scripting to read or manipulate the individual vertex or triangle data. .
