Question by gargd · Jun 09, 2017 at 05:28 PM · recording

How can I record my game in play mode within unity to use the video to extract images for machine learning purposes?

Hi I am creating my traffic simulator on unity. As of now, I have a road intersection with traffic lights, I need to record the traffic simulation in real time and transfer the video to matlab to work with neural networks. I used fraps to take the recording but I am not too convinced with it. Can someone please let me know if there is some other way to record the gameplay. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks

I've used this and it might suit your purposes. You can then bring the individual frames (.png) into a video editing program like Vegas or Premiere to create a video.

Yep - this is basically how we capture all HD in-game promo videos from our games too.

There's probably an asset you can buy on the asset store which will give you the functionality you need. Helios is one that I considered buying a while back (I didn't need screen recording in the end, so I didn't buy it). It can do normal recording and in 360 degrees as well.
