How can I transfer projects between instances of Unity?

I have a project on my mac, and I want to transfer the project to my flash drive, which has an instance of unity on it. How do I do this?

You can export the entire thing as a Unity package (Assets -> Export Package), then you may load that Unity package into a new project using Unity running from your flash drive.

Only export it as a unitypackage if you haven't customized any project settings (e.g., tags, layers, physics collision matrix, input settings, etc.). The unitypackage won't include those.

Ideally, set up version control. Then download it from your version control repository. This way you can keep changes in sync between two locations.

Otherwise, close Unity on your Mac, and copy the Assets and ProjectSettings folders into a folder on your flash drive. Then open that folder in Unity. The first time you do this, Unity will reimport everything. But you'll keep your project settings this way.

This is also a good way about things. However, you are able to also export project settings as Unity packages as well, so if you develop something of a framework like the one I'm working on, this is useful for rapidly getting a project set up using an established code and asset base. To export project settings, open the respective settings sheet from the Edit > Project Settings menu, then choose Assets > Export Package again. If your assets continually show up in the export window, close and restart Unity. You should see just the respective .projectsettings file in the export window.

It shouldn't matter that you have "an instance of Unity" on your Flash drive. Your project files can be copied wherever you want. Or enable Collab.
