How to fade the alpha on an albedo texture..

I used this test script, it works on the object color alpha but not the albedo image slot on the standard shader alpha. I'm not using the color, so it's useless.. Also legacy transparent diffuse has the same issue. var col:Color; function Start () { col=GetComponent.().material.color; } function Update () { col.a -= 0.1f; } So, how do I access the main color.alpha for the image albedo by JS code and adjust it. Code example would be great.. I've looked a lot online, can't seem to find it, strange that I'm the first to want to fade an alpha texture at runtime on a gameobject using an albedo.

Perhaps try getting the current alpha value, creating a new material, modifying its alpha, then reapplying the material back onto the GameObject? I don't know, just a thought ;p

The col variable is not a reference type so you have to reassign it to the material's color value.

 function Update () {
 col=GetComponent.().material.color;
 col.a -= 0.1f;
 GetComponent.().material.color = col;
 }

Of course, this is very unefficient with all the GetComponent calls so there is room for improvement, like caching the material once.

Yes that is it, thank you... note to others.,,,the "getcomponent.(lessthan symbol)renderer(greaterthan symbol)" seems to have gotten chopped out of my code.. so the symbols and the word "renderer" are missing..I mention this for anyone that tries to copy paste my code if its missing above. Thanks again for the help, that workss, strange, seems there would be an easier way.
