How would I make a character select screen?

So what I have is basic and inefficient. I have 2 characters, two different cubes, and when I click on one of them in the selection scene it loads the scene with that character/cube. Now I have a bigger project in w$$anonymous$$ch I would love to use many different characters but I don't want to make 10 different scenes of the exact same t$$anonymous$$ng. Is there a tutorial that I can read (I say read b/c I prefer it over videos but videos are fine too) that would solve t$$anonymous$$s for me? Ive tried many but they don't seem to help, especially with bad audio and hard to read scripts. I'm not a good coder myself that's why I ask the community to help me. Thanks in advance. I will elaborate of needed.
