Im pretty sure you mean illegal. You could do that, but don't expect any friends in the gaming industry. People work very hard on their assets, they deserve to be paid.

Also - your use of the Unity Editor and any Unity Services is tied to your Unity account, access to which would almost certainly be revoked. So your first "Made with Unity" game would also probably become your last ....

Technically: yes, practically: of course not.

People constantly violate the assetstore terms by uploading their project w$$anonymous$$ch contains paid assets to sites like Github where they make everyt$$anonymous$$ng available to the public. By doing that they already violate the terms because they re-distribute the asset in asset-form w$$anonymous$$ch is not allowed. By copying clearly illegal material without having a license is of course illegal.

What will happen? That depends on many factors. First of all do you actually publish your game? If you do the actual right owner can possible find your game (or might be informed by others). He can take legal actions against you. So you can be sued for using illegal content. Depending on the "damage" you caused he might additionally sued you for reperations. If you make money with those assets it's the worse t$$anonymous$$ng you can do. If you're unlucky and get caught it can completely screw up your life.

ps: It's actually sad that questions like this exists. It shows that our society has almost completely lost their sense for fairness and right.

It really depends on where he lives. Of course the game will be taken down if it's on Steam or Playstore, but I think the suing part is a little tricky. Lawyers cost a lot of money, and if he's not from the country the artist is from, he won't be sued.

I'm just putting this out there, I'm not a legal expert and I don't condone piracy of the asset store.

Dido. I'm thinking he/she wants people to illegally download their game as well, because it seems that supporting developers isn't a key component of their endeavour.

I'm all for sticking to the big corporations cough apple cough, but ripping an indie developer off is like stealing from a poor, blind, homeless man in a wheelchair.

Man, just don't use pirated assets in a game that you want to publish.

The right owner is not required to nicely inform you about your illegal actions. If he wants to he can directly instruct his lawyer to sue you. Just like a supermarket does not nicely inform you that you just stole something and ask you nicely to put it back.

If you can't afford buying the assets, don't use them. Either search for free assets or create your own.

I'm not an artise either. If i need assets i either search for free assets or create them procedurally or just use simple shapes as replacement. That's by the way how "Kirby" was born. It wasn't ment as an actual character. It was just a placeholder which was ment to be replaced later. Though it turned out it was a "good enough" character for that type of game.

Do what you want, man, I'm not here to tell you how to live your life and so on. It's your life, you decide what you want to do.
