Well, you're using default, untextured materials, one basic directional light, looking in scene view with no image effects..... of course it's going to look bad! Unity's good, but it's just an engine. What were you expecting? Unity may have been used for games like Inside, Ori, Hitman, $$anonymous$$onument Valley etc., but it needs artistic skill and time as well!

He seems to have been confused about Isometric View vs Perspective View rather than the textures and materials.

2014 was only 3 years ago, what does that even mean? Did things look such a specifically different way 3 years ago that you thought it would be relevant enough to us understanding the problem that you are having? Sorry to be blunt, but try improving your description of the problem.

$$anonymous$$aybe the OP is 12 years old. I've seen kids that young $$anonymous$$ch themselves a little 3D modeling, and many Jr. Highs (about 12 to 14 years old) $$anonymous$$ch some Java program$$anonymous$$g. 3 years would be "very, very" long ago for them.

unity gives you dozens of default "shaders" to apply to objects to make them look however you like. if one of the dozens of material shaders is not to your liking, you can always find one or write a custom shader script to do anything. There is also a process of setting up lighting and shadows and applying textures along with texture settings. judgeing by your picture, I dont even think you have textures? game development is a learning process. i suggest reading in the unity manuals or start googling about materials and textures. since you can make your blocks look 100 different ways, this question is too vague to answer. I suggest deciding exactly what you want to achieve and reposing the question. how your game "looks" is only limited by your artistic skills and knowledge of applying materials, textures, shaders, lighting, shadows and effects that all take time to learn individually. (and of course 3d modeling). Unfortunatly this is something you will have to learn with any real game engine because this is all simply default information that modern video hardware needs to render a display.

Did you mean to be in isometric mode? If not, click the cube in the top right corner of the scene screen (between the x,y,z coordinates). That's the only thing I can think of when you say the camera is "Distorted"

If this wasn't what you are asking about then you need to be way more specific. This question is extremely vague.
